Smokey's Birthday Party
Delaware Forest Service

June 19 , 2004

On Saturday, June 19th, the Delaware Forest Service recognized Smokey's 60th Birthday in front of more than 6,000 baseball fans at a Wilmington Blue Rocks minor league baseball game. The Wilmington Blue Rocks are a Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

The Delaware Forest Service handed out Smokey Bear Baseballs to young fans as they arrived for the game. Smokey Bear threw out the first pitch, and the announcer led the stadium in singing "Happy Birthday." Smokey spent the rest of the game circulating through the stands and greeting fans.
